The Affordable Energy Coalition applauds the provincial government’s free low income Heat Pump program and the expanded Heating Assistance Rebate Program (HARP) targetting low and modest income households.
Low income Nova Scotians were facing a bleak winter with exceptionally high fossil fuel prices and these programs will make a big difference in helping them in the short term and in the long term. The HARP program expansion will make it easier for low and modest income households to keep their essential energy services going this winter. The Heat Pump program will reduce heating costs in the long term compared to expensive polluting oil.
